Throat Chakra

This is the fifth chakra up, located in the throat. It’s also known as “Vishuddha” and is often associated with the color blue. The Throat Chakra is all about self-expression, communication, and creative identity. To illustrate this, the figure in the artwork is holding many objects that are used for creative expression. In one arm, she holds a flute, to represent musical expression. In another arm, she holds a paintbrush, to represent the fine arts. In the top right arm, she is holding a book, to represent writing. In the bottom right arm, she has the Sock and Buskin theater masks, to represent acting. Lastly, she has Saturn’s rings around her which she is using as a hula hoop while dancing over a galaxy, as a form of representing dance. The element associated with the Throat Chakra is Akasha, which means space. This is why I placed her among the stars. I want to thank my friend Amy Hulagan for modeling for this artwork. Amy has the Throat Chakra symbol tattooed on her arm and overall is an embodiment of the Throat Chakra in many ways. She was a perfect fit for this piece.
